PEPPER
Pepper is a semi-humanoid robot who is able to read the emotions of people and act depending on them. This robot is a project given by the Basque government and conducted in cooperation with the university UPV/EHU, with the aim of using it in a nursing home to make assist the elderly. Furthermore, my tasks in this project were to make the documentation of every step made every day, document properly all the capabilities of the robot and help to programme the robot, in order to present the project to the town hall.
Pepper will be able to recognise the elderlies in the nursing home and learn about them (names, age, nationality...). He will be able to read their emotions and react depending on it, feeling sad when the elderly are sad and feeling happy when the elderly are happy. In addition, he will try to cheer them up or hug them if they're sad. Moreover, Pepper will have conversations with the elderly and will be able to interpret their questions and answer them. And apart from his variety of applications such as making phone calls, sending e-mails... He will suggest the elderly with different activities to do in the town or even play music, videos and exercise with them.
This project was presented by me in public for ZarautzOn in 2019, a basque organisation whose aim is to boost the development of people and society by fostering knowledge about Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship.
